Club Extra

Club Extra alleviates educational deficiencies and helps students advance by deploying technology and tutors to impoverished children in remote communities.

Club Extra groups are often organized by student leaders in their own community. Leaders act as guides and encouragers as children work through the technology based courses and programs.

Along with software enabled content, other learning opportunities such as STEM based electricity, robotics and virtual reality courses  are offered.

Club Extra is hosted by an organizer (usually a student) in a home or at a community building.

Laptops, usually Chromebooks and tablets are used.

Students have WI-FI access to a host of content such as Khan Academy, Wikipedia and special educational programs.

Volunteer teachers are guides and encouragers that provide specialized attention to each student.

Next Steps

Club Extra has changed to meet new needs that each host community has presented. Traveling to these remote areas, especially during the rainy season is a big challenge. One of the continuing needs of this program is for more tablets and laptops.
